Check your Thrift Store.

Just a tip! In my experience, the digital photo age started in 2002. Some of the early digitals are
finding their way into the Thrift Shops as people have continued to "up-grade". The two or four
meg cameras are still capable of giving you a lot of fun.

I found an almost mint NIKON coolpix 2500 in my local Goodwill for $25.00us. Although only
two megs, I have found it a great little P&S that has no problem printing to 11x14 inches and
has a f2.7 -- super sharp Nikor lens. (a shot down below.) Even if I only carry it in the car, It is
worth the price.

Craigslist too

My local "craigslist" is loaded with old and current digital cameras and photo equipment, you could certainly pick up an older but perfectly good camera there.
