I see the news of big fires near Grayling, Hoping all is Ok for you and yours.

We are covered with snow ......again, seems we have had a blizzard every other Friday in April


The view out of my kitchen this morning, relatively calm 25 mph westerly wind

No fire danger here........or any danger of farming, or cycle riding this weekend

Thanks for asking Bob. The fire roared up to the south side of town and jumped I-75 (four lane divided highway). They said it was about 1,100 acres and burned six houses. We could have used some of your snow. It got within one half mile of our house. In 1990 we had a fire five times bigger that destroyed 88 homes. Same time of the year when the woods have not greened up yet. No fatalities in either fire. We have a lot of forest that they let regenerate with Jackpine which burns with a little less ferocity than gasoline. Once it starts going it is really hard to stop if you don't have a fire break of some sort. It makes you want to construct a sprinkler system to hose down the shop so we don't lose the good stuff.
