As part of the Saturday fun on Bart's favorite Iowa road, I ended up with
a broken mounting bracket for the aux. fuel tank on the mighty Gold Wing.
More correctly, the 2" mounting tab that is welded to a plate on
the tank broke off--and I'm in need of getting it welded back on
before I can ride the bike to Atlanta Friday.
It's the major lower tank support, and I just don't see the
current jury-rigged tie-down supports as being permanent.
Anyone know of a welder that would do something like this--and
ideally first thing Friday morning?
I know some welders don't want to weld on a fuel tank, but some
say it's no problem. In this case, it's a tab that needs to be
welded onto the plate on the tank. Other that the fuel tank issue,
I'd assume it's a pretty standard welding task--but what do I know.
It's a steel tank.
I'm currently out of town--fly back in late Thursday evening.
Bike is at Victor Wanchenas house in the northwest metro area.
Tank works great--have already run about 5 fills through it.
None of them were canadian gas though....no one can afford that stuff.
Even if they could, I refuse to give Canada any money--or pay them for traffic tickets accumulated there over the years, so we've reached an accord--they don't let me in anymore, and I don't break their highway laws anymore.
As such, it makes it a tad difficult to scout bonuses there.
