Bob was the sponsor for many years behind the Icycle derby that many of us loved to particapate in,also was the past owner of Fairbuilt HD.
The funeral is Friday, sorry was not able to add the link here, check the Star Tribune site for more info.
He was a good hearted guy that still rode and was a great positive promoter to riding.I think MMM did a story on him a few years ago?

Funeral report

August 18 2008, 11:37 AM

Arriving early, I pulled into the church lot. Over a hundred bikes had preceded me to the solemn occasion. The parking attendant asks, "Are you a HOG Member?" I reply in the affirmative and he directs me to the largest group of bikes to park. Faces become recognizable before the kickstand hits the pavement.
The conversation is almost the same with each person, "Hi? How are you doing? Have you seen so-an-so, its been a long time and we should get together and catch up." The conversation turns to why we assembled together, Bob's life. "He was such an ambassador for the sport, who can take his place?"
No easy answer spills out from any lips who new the man who road for over 70 years exploring life and the continent by motorcycle.
The long eulogies chronicled his exploits well (except his winter adventures, the I-cycle Derby was barely mentioned) The tears that flowed at the beginning turned to laughter. The laughter turn to silence as the stories become larger then life of a man who could not get enough of life on two-wheels.
As the eulogy portion of the service ended, you could sense in the air the people who came to celebrate his life wanted to bust out cheering and clapping... their hands raised off their laps at the ready, but it didn't happen. If one person would have started, it would have cascaded into the loudest eruption the church ever experienced.
My plan was to follow the procession to the burial site. Knowing there were a lot of cameras present, I thought I would lag the Honda behind not spoiling their pictures. Bob always wished you road a Harley but he also didn't care what you road as long as you were out there riding.
That plan was upset. Parked right next to me was a beautiful soft-tail with a front flat tire. The situation was a no-brainier, I know what Bob would have done. Bob would have been late to his own funeral to fix that tire! The riders buddies left with the procession leaving him on the phone to get a tow. I asked if I could help him out. The tire repair gear came out and and in a short time, the rider was on his way.
I hope Bob doesn't mind me missing the end of his last shindig. I just want to thank him for one last final treasured gift. I have this image of me and my little toes in Bob's size 20 shoes making that heavy thumping sound around the parking lot helping out this fellow rider- like a child who discovers their parents shoes next to the front door for the first time and goes clumping around the house!
Thanks again Bob! Even at the end- you delivered another cherished memory...
