I think my father served on the king around that time his name is Gary F Long Sr (was a signalman 3rd class)

Gary, Most of the Plank owmers were still aboard during the timeframe you are asking about. I was aboard from August '60 through January '62 as a SOG2. I was part of the Nucleus Crew.
