any abuse of the old mam paps Somare is totally unacceptable here on this website.

Have you read the book "SANA'? read the book for your own back ground information before any can critize the old man. Yes, critize his young son,but leave the old man alone...he has come a long way.

My feeling is that the man of today is not the man of the past. I don't think today's Somare deserves any respect what so ever. The book Sana was also simplistic and not very revealing. It did not indicate an author of exceptional intelligence.

You guys really hate Papun Somare, no doubt?!

On the other hand, what have you contributed to png. Now don't you blame the lapun.

aha...sitting behind a computer, and do have no guts to face the lapun. Take him on a debate..

I believe most of you are young people who are on this forum but I have this to say to you.

I have my reasons, people.
1. Your fathers and uncles were slaves on their own land in the 50's to 60’s; even ela beach was a "whites only" beach. Lapun and others changed that. What your uncles and fathers were called by the Australians? Bush kanakas!!

2. The kina value was 2x the Aust$ in 1975, see now, the kina is **** money.

3. The highlands region in terms of coffee and tea was made the base to grow png. This was all lapuns somare's making.

Many more latter but.....just digest these few points above..

This is what I will end it with...all (probably some) who were born after 1975 are ones who have totally ruined png to the current state now…so do not blame the old man.

This all started with myself, rigo melo, defending an abuse against an elder statesman. I do not deserve any negative comments from any smart people so stop this nonsense.
It is totally acceptable to rub mud on any people, when you can not identify your self but hide behind a computer.

I recommend the administrator to trace back internet protocol address (IP address) of such people who see fit to abuse people over the internet and which internet service providers (ISP) when we request.
than we shall "see" all the Anonymous...

So long, png

I think citizens are already too sick to be talking decent about the chief or any politician for that matter. we are suffering na husait bai helping mipla, who is gonna help us, WHO? HUSAIT? this country is already a living hell for almost every citizen except white collar criminals.

the OP's post would be a typical reaction from the majority of us who go through the hardship everyday to put bread and butter on the table while the fat pollies drink a beer and play poker. while they travel overseas for medical treatment, we walk hrs to get to the nearest aidpost for the same reason. very frustrating! Prime Minister is only a title and respect is EARNED by the performance of the person behind the title.

While Sir Michael might not be leading the country in the way some of us would like to see it, it is very low when some swears to him in a room where he does not visit. It just hurts those of us who are decent and genuinely want to contribute to discussions here on PNGscape. I suggest PNGSCAPE puts a tag on foul language.

It shows you are desperate and don't know how too be hear. Please remember with are all with you but we do not need to lower ourselves like the thieves and crooks in parliament to make our point.

Alas! the true patriot has spoken. Swearing is the sign of someone who lacks eloquence of speech and came short of being good enough. Yeh! you ain't going to lower yourself and be in the same team as the grand thief and his disciples.

PNG, yous were born free people, ain't not slave to no-one. But the way some people bow down to Somare, it makes some think that yep, there are some disciples in the making.

its ok to get angry and frustrated (MINUS foul mouthing) on the net about how the leaders are/have been carrying on but then we are only wasting our time, effort and thoughts here. if there is anything we can do?

If u guys got a problem with Somare why dont u sign a partion or do something about instead of braggin on like a little kid over spilled milk. grow some courage/balls and do something about compalining on this site wont do anything good unless your afraid to speak out in publin due to the fear of being attacked by the sepiks. so instead of abusing old papa somare do something about and stop being little chicken cowards and complain on this site

That's true, swearing at Somare only makes the writer more angry while Somare still laughs to the bank. I notice last week that his mansion at Kreer Hts is being pulled down. Word is that his asian friends who are ripping timber out of Karau are building a K5.0m retirement home of the grand old man. Isn't he lucky. Poor Kabui did not even leave his family a house (just like Julius Nyrere of Tanzania).

The great thing about Somare is that it does not matter how much money he gives to his own people in East Sepik and Angoram especially, they will still remain one of the least developed provinces in PNG because much of the money gets siphoned off somewhere else.

Let's take the K600m that Somare committed to ESP in this next five years, it will be like the K300m he spent there in the previous 5 years. Not one piece of evidence of that money will remain to be seen.

So while the rest of us are getting angry be happy in the knowledge that once Somare leaves politics at the end of this term, the people who put him there to torment us, the Sepiks, will go back into the gutter. I take some comfort in this knowledge.

Somare = Mugabe = Dictatorship

No score for this post
August 29 2008, 1:28 PM

Friends,

I am wondering if we are not living under a dictatorial government?

A dictatorship is descibed as a govenment where absolute power is vested and excercised by the leader of government. Isn't that what we have in PNG today? A dictator?

Absolute power is vested in the leader of our government ... Mugabe started off the same as Somare. Mugabe was a very popular leader with his people (originally), he refused to hand over leadership to anyone else, he started by controlling all organs of state, Police, Defense, Finance, Media, Legislature, etc, etc.

Cmdr Ilau is a Somare man, Commissioner Baki is a Somare man, there is more and more talk of controlling the media. Legislation is being drawn up by Mr A Somare at the moment for Tamur to table.

The Opposition is powerless, just like in Zimbabwe .... the list goes on.

Mugabe has succeeded in taking total control of Zimbabwe, Somare is slowly taking control of PNG, Mugabe took about 15 years to take control of Zimbabwe, Somare has been in for about 7 years but is making great progress towards the same goal.

I think we should be afraid that we are already taking all of the initial steps that Zimbabwe took, 25 years later, they are the most crippled country in the world.
