Hey I was wondering if anyone with any experience with wig making could help me. I'm not talking about the yarn wigs, I mean the ones you can buy. I'm making a Bombalurina wig for a lypsync contest to go with my costume, and I was wondering which was better, the Japanese beast wig or the Cats kit costume hood thing. If anyone has any experience with either of these or something besides the yarn wigs, please help me!!! The only wig I've ever made was a mistoffolees wig out of faux fur which turned out pretty good, but faux fur won't work for Bombalurina.

I am not trying to flame anyone or question their intelligence, but I wish to direct you to a group of people who could answer your questions wihtout involving the whole board... This also includes anyone who makes, sells, or commissions costumes...

She actually already did put it on the costuming board. I guess she's trying to check about to see if everyone agrees with the info given to her there. Emily, to be honest the best place to go is the Costuming Message Board..the costumers on both here and musicals.net all browse or post on there so you'll get the same advice here as there.
The Rubies Cats hood which you talk about wouldn't really work for a Bombalurina. It's essentially faux fur anyway so it'd be the same as making it from faux fur and the pile of that is just too short for a Bombalurina. If you want to buy a pre-made wig then get the Jap Beast thing..it can look nice, with a lot of effort & adjustment. My advice is the same as on the other board, make a wig out of crepe wool. They look very authentic, are cheap and are easy to make.
