When I was a kid, well, Batman belonged to my brother. I didn't like Spiderman and Superman was just too darn well, super, although of the three I found him the most palateable. Until a smaller superhero appeared; Ironman-and I was hooked. Right up to and into my early teens.
Enter my forties, I've got kids who are old enough to have gotten past the superhero stuff and I like very few things being made in Hollywood. It seems like there are only a half dozen pictures a year that turn me on and of the dozens of cowboys trying to act, theres only a couple that seem to have a reasonable grasp on the craft.
Wouldn't ya know it. Robert Downey Jr. is one of my absolute faves and again, wouldn't ya know it, he's Ironman.
Enough preamble, they did pretty good with the last Batman, but of all of the superhero schtick out there, Ironman finally nails it to the wall. It's perfectly goofy and everyone is entirely sincere for the whole thing. It simply could not be better. Every review you'll read is bang on and go see it. Its an absolute hoot.
