Another book to add to the list of people abused within the religion they trusted as "the truth". Carolyn Jessop was a member of the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints, an off shoot of the Mormon church which still practices polygamy. I cried through most of it. Happy ending though as you can tell by the title she gave it!

I recommend these kind of books for anyone who is trying to reason still with an active JW. They won't, of course, read anything by a former JW, but I can attest that while I was still a faithful JW I read a book by an ex Moonie justifying that it might help me understand cult members so I could better witness to them. Though I laughed at what silly indoctrination this poor chap sucked up, it all felt quite familiar on the emotional level and started opening up my mind to the possibility that I was in a cult. So, one method to reach an active JW is to relate some things out of a book like this one and begin a discussion of how religion can be so oppressive.
