Bee stings, anaphylactic shock and epinephrine

by Cathy Brown

I wrote a story, that has nothing to do with the characters of EMERGENCY!, fancied myself helping someone who had multiple bee stings, and was deathly allergic to bee stings, and was starting to go into anaphylactic shock. How long does a person have to live, until epinephrine can be administered? What's the dosage for epi, and I also in this story told them to give me some epi now, and cut the bureaucratic BS, that a man was dying, if he wasn't already dead, due to anaphylactic shock. What else besides epi is needed to help a beesting allergy patient through his crisis? Just curious, but I wanted to make it realistic. Picture Johnny and Roy on this one. Don't people with allergies usually carry allergy kit with them, with syringes pre-loaded with epi?
