Here can you discuss about the Sports- and Shoot'em Up Games to Commodore 64.
I`ve forgot what to type when run/load a game......
by Kristian
Hello
I`m an old commodore 64 user, and now i`ve taken my machine down from the attic.
But my problem is, I forgot what to type/write when I would run games, what kind of command do I have to type to run a game from my old data diskette drive??
I do hope you will help me with this, so that I can enjoy playing on my C64 again
should do the trick (if first file on the disk is the boot file). If the file you wish to run is not the first one on the disk, you will need to specify the filename (<filename>):
LOAD"<filename>",8,1 <return>
If the file doesn't run automatically after the load command, you may have to type:
RUN <return>
at the next prompt.
If the program is basic, you may have to drop the ",1" off the end of the load command like so:
LOAD"<filename>",8 <return>
or
LOAD"*",8 <return>
You will definitely have to issue the RUN command after loading a basic program.
To see a list of files on the disk, first:
LOAD"$",8 <return>
Then type:
LIST <return>
When the LIST command is entered, a file directory will be displayed and you can use this list to determine the name of the file you wish to run.
Now, I do not know the name of the game, but I could have sworn that it was "Jack Nicklaus Golf" that contained a tournament/season mode. After each hole (or round) you would see your current score against everyone else in the tournment (which would be 20 or more).
Is there an expansion disk to JNG that gives the tourney? Or was it another golfing game? I tried a few here, but none of them I recall from way back when.
I got a big problem with the 'INTERNATIONAL TEAM SPORTS' game. I downloaded TWO versions of this game and they both don't work properly. First one is cracked by ATC. It was cracked wrong so in two player game fixtures and team properties are only shown for player 1. So when player one is done so is player two.
The other one is cracked by IKARI and in intro they are saying that they (allegedly) fixed ATC's bug and that the game should work properly.
WRONG - Now the game' parameters can be set easily but no matter what i choose it's loading volleyball instead of waterpolo, swimming etc...
So using Star Commander I am trying to format some old 5.25 disks with the x1541 cable and a PC.For some reason the box of SONY 2HD will not format, and keeps throwing me an error message. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there any software to just RIP the PC formatting off the DISK first? HELP
is there anyone who got this game to work
under ccs64 2.0 emulator? after start menu
its demanding 'side 1'. no matter which
disk I select (there are 4) I keep getting
this note. any help appeciated
ISS Pro Evolution 2 - I've played many, and this is the best one. Played FIFA up to 2000 version. Not bad. But ISS blows FIFA off the planet. Simply the best gameplay - very realistic and intuitive. After a while, you feel like you're actually on the field. I know - I am a player as well! Try it if you can find it
I have downloaded omni-play bball, and it works fine....until I get to the copy protection screen. I put in a word, it then sends me to the title screen (where you can play and install the different expansions), but I cannot do anything else. Is this a game problem (i.e., copy protection needed), or is it my emulator (CCS64).
The password-protection is probably removed, otherwise you haven't continued to the installation screen.
If I remember correct you can only play the 'default'-game. The other expansion disks are missing and when you don't have them you can't play them...
/Martin.
You move 'your' hand with the joystick in port 1. Click on 'SBA END VIEW' and it will start to blink, then click on 'PLAY' and the game will start to load.
I'm glad to find this forum. I first played this game on the PC as Magic Johnson Basketball, and now as Omni-Play Basketball on the C64 emulator.
Magic Johnson was sideview and Omni-Play is endview. The interesting thing is, in sideview, you control only your center. In endview, you don't really control any player, but you totally control movement of the ball.
Regarding the copy protection question: At the copy protection screen in Omni-Play, I just type anything, and the game loads.
My question: Has anyone found any add-on modules for either Magic Johnson or Omni-Play? The print module would be especially useful, because statistics for the playoff games are not saved.
I wonder if Ed Ringler is around and if he is aware that people are still playing his little sports games.
I a couple of the expansion disks, however I am not sure if they work. I will locate them and hook up the old c64 and see if it works. I am not that much of a commodore to computer guy otherwise I would try and hook up that 1541 drive to my pc and convert myself, if I knew how!! Anyway, I have a question as well. Using css emulator, I load omni play, go in and reset the league, play a game and after the game it resets to what was stored in the download!! How can I get it to save my season or games? I went to the screen where the save is at but I go thru all the motions and it won't let me save it. Any suggestions? I will hunt down the expansion disks I have and send them in.
You are my last chance.
After more than a year spent to search Omni Basket, finally I have found it, but it doesn't run.
I am very sad, as it is one of my favourite game.
After END VIEW - PLAY menu, nothing happen.
On CCS64 I got a "ready" prompt.
I have tried Vice and Frodo too, which give the same result: after play menu, two rows of blocked graphic charatters appear and nothing more happen.
I thought could me a message like "insert disk 2", I have tried to change disk but haven't been able to do.
Please please please please...
could you gently say to me wich emulator and version are you runnning?
I should be obliged for eternity to you and to anyone want help me.
Thank you.
Greatings from Italy.
Silvano
Kevin! If you've got expansion disks for this game, please get them to a member of the C64 community who will copy and convert them (for free) to PC status.
Right now, there are no expansion disks available to those who play the game on a PC emulator.
Hi.
I have again original C64 disk, box and manual of:
- End view (base)
- College championship (I don't remember the right name)
- Side view
The only problem is that I have not yet been able to build a 1541enanced cable.
If someone in Italy could send me a running cable, I should be glade to share with you all these disks.
Otherwise, I could do copies of the disks for someone who can convert to D64.
Meanwhile, I'll try to buy cable on original site.
Where does Stadium64 team live? in USA or in Europe?
Will be a problem the shipment of the disks?
Regards.
Silvano
I am very glad to find a forum on this game, Omni Play Basketball.
This is definitely the best basketball game ever produced!!!!
I loved its realism because you do not actually control the players but only the ball (I believe this is only for Omni Play Basketball and not Magic Johnson). It is also one of the only games that have
repeat seasons!! Even the new games like NBA Live does not have repeat seasons!!!
Anyway, I do have a copy of the Magic Johnson game but what I am looking is actually the Omni Play Basketball game (end-view) as my copy was lost many years back. I tried to no avail trying to find the game for the last few years.
I really appreciate if you know anyone who has the game (PC version) to send me a copy.
BTW, do you know how to increase the speed of the players / game?
How do i load in a "rom" in the CCS emulaor? I get to the "load cartridge" screen and i see the roms but i press enter and nothing happens. Someone help please
