A great piece of equipment...

by Monster Hunter

during dark nights, shadows or heavily canopied timber with damn near any NV...

We're not real certain these animals can see in the IR spectrum but suspect it from our camera trap we had set...we mentioned this some years back and now some folks believe this to be gospel...far from the truth...this is like any other "suspected" piece of evidence...not valid unless proven for fact...

I know game cams have been discussed many times...animals can see them...they can hear them, smell them etc...I do know for fact that a wireless mic works...A man made me two of them...one worked well with about a twelve inch antenna at about two hundred yards without any obstacles such as timber or hillsides in the direct path...I would set my truck radio to a lower clear FM station and could monitor this mic from my pickup...

I placed this mic all over the place listening for the various critters in the area...my favorite spot was at the spring where I fed deer carcasses...damn exciting to hear something approach the carcass, know by sound the carcass was being moved and then hear the breaking and crunching of bones...

I would pull over a small sapling, tie the mic to the tree, make sure the antenna was pointing in my direction and enjoy life listening...the mic would be approximately eight to ten feet from the ground..

I haven't had much luck with game cameras but you have to remember...I've only been doing this for a short 15 to 17 years...I just ain't smart enough to get that "no doubt" monster photo...
