for a scope. If you are right handed you hold the scope over the top with your left hand and close to your face; that allows the use of a rifle scope with a small eye relief. If you want to hold "Creedmoor" or a more classic pistol stance, straight arm(s) then you need a long eye relief shotgun or pistol scope. As far as the "thin" front sight post do you use a six o'clock hold or a centered sight picture. You will find that the front sight plays a much bigger roll in where the pellet strikes than the rear sight slot position. The wider slot works for more and different sized types of targets than a wide front pin narrow rear slot; as an example in silhouette shooting. shoot different holds on target for a few hundred rounds and see if you don't find the wide slot to be of benefit as long as you focus on the front sight primarily.
