Response to RM 05 with Vaucher Movement

Andrew, thank you for your honest response. I would never qualify myself as a serious watch collector or someone who knows a lot about watches. It all started about 20 years ago buying the first Rolex an absolutly fantastic watche that took abuse, was not serviced for 10 years and never missed a beat. Then one day I was admiring a Royal Oak and the salesman told me that Rolex was a Chevy and the AP was a BMW. Then some time later while admiring a Patek I was told they are the Rolls Roys-history, exceptional movement, value etc. Then I got rid of all the watches and focused on the Pateks, beautiful with history, exclusive and kept excellent time. Life was simple. Then in the last 10 years a proliferation of watch companies...everyone is the business, resurect an old name and that gives you legitemacy, the fact that the original company was not in the business for 100 years did not matter. It was this tactic that turned me off new companies. Exceptions to this rule, F.P.Journe and a few others. Are RM watches techincally different because everything else has been done or because the man(RM) has succeeded to live his dream...make the watach the way he thinks it should be made? I do like the RM-05 but since there is no history behind the brand there has to be a determined visionary that will not compromise on his creations regardless of the price point. Remember, I started saying that the Rolex of 20 years was a great watch, and after all the APs and Pateks that Chevy was still a great watch. And if the RM 05 works as good as that Rolex I will be a happy man.
