I have only recently got interested in the RM line. I know that several of the models have v2 variants now. is this an indication that RM will change over to the use of carbon fibre for his entire line? (maybe a little like FPJ ending up moving from brass movt to gold movts?)

Sorry if the question is already asked, but could not seemto find the thread....
thx

the 2, 3, 4, and 8 all have v2's

I highly doubt he would use carbon in the 7, and see no reason to believe he would in the 5 (if he was going to, seems to me he would have done it when he did all the rest). The others are all limited production series so obviously no V2's.

If you want pictures of my RM002v2 they're a few threads down.

The idea behind the 'higher end' Richard Mille line...

February 26 2006, 10:19 PM

is that the technology of the 'special editions' filters down into the regular production series. Hence, after the RM006, the idea of a carbon fibre base plate was shown to be workable, and the rest of the production series duly benefitted. However, I am not sure if other models will now have aluminium lithium or Alusic parts. It is possible, but Alusic is difficult to manufacture and even harder (read expensive) to machine. It might happen, but I have not heard anything to suggest that it will. One thing is for sure, the RM line is constantly evolving, and once a development is inaugurated, it is implemented immediately. If you want a V2, order it now, while you can!

Hope this is of some help

Actually,

I quite like the All Titanium 005. its kind of cool to have basically the entire watch in 1 material..... of course I understand that he is using carbon fibre in some models as it a better more stable material, but an all titanium watch is appealing to me.

And an excellent choice...

RM started using titanium base plates about three-quarters of the way through the RM001 line. Out of the 17 produced, titanium base plates started with number 12 (I think). Before that, RM was using good old traditional brass base plates.

I can appreciate you wanting a watch of complete titanium. Very light, very advanced, and very Richard Mille!

Thanks

In reality

I would love to have a complicated RM watch but its out of reeach for now. it is a shame (from a personal perspective) tht he jumps from RM005 to incredibly complicated watches like 004.... i wished there was a couple of watches t fill the void!

and on.... but given that in the RM wbsite, the 005 is refered to as the 005-1, that prob suggsts that there will be a 005-v2 according to my logic. right?

I wouldn't necessarily jump to that conclusion

Perhaps he just wanted to keep continuity through the line that v1 meant titanium.

At some point, there may be a RM005-v2, but SteveH is probably correct...

in that RM labels watches as v1 for a particular number. I have no idea if they are working on an RM005-v2, although it would not surprise me if they were.
