Installing later exhaust system on 95 5/0 Mustang

Have an otherwise great, low mileage 95 5/0 that sounds wimpy in comparison with our 98 4.6 convertible. What is the possibility/downside of installing a later (throatier) 4.6 exhaust system in my 95 - - say, from the headpipe aft?? And, to get to the crux of it, what is in in the later systems that makes it sound so much "better" (throatier) than my rather quiet 5/0?
