Did you check Max KVs

I think I would check maximum coil output. It is not unheard of for a bad coild to strain a module. I do it on an ignition scope, should have at least 30 kilovolts max. Otherwise take off a plug wire put a screwdrivers in it and fire it up. The spark should jump 1/4" and be blue not orange or white.
