2000 mustang comfort for 6'1" person

by

I've been thinking I need a mustang. My neighbor just bought his grandson a 2000 or maybe 2001 model. I sat in it but the seat seems too small and doesn't go back far enough for me. Are there any brackets available to reposition the drivers seat further back and can any body recommend a comfortable aftermarket or custom seat.

Thanks

Tires or tires

by Raymond

Don't do it bud. With 275's up front u might rub alot. For the rear u'll be alright. I went with Roush's spec (They race alot in the GT circuits so they know their Sh_t for mustang performance)which was 265's front and 295 rear.

1999 Mustang GT Vibration at 1000 rpm & clutch pedal vibration

by

Hi,
I have a 1999 Mustang that I just replave the 4.6l 2v motor in. At 41K a piston skirt broke. I have never driven the car before the Ford Remanufactured engine was installed. There are 2 problems.
Problem #1:
The motor has a vibration between 1000 rpm and 1200 rpm. Before 1000 and after 1200rpm it runs fine. I've followed all of the factory service manuals info but that didn't help. This vibration happen when driving and at a stop.

Problem #2:
The clutch pedal seem to have a fair amount of vibration comming from it. Some times it will be so grate that the pedal starts to make noise.

Thanks for any help that you guys can provide.

Robert

clutch pedal vibration

by

i had the vibrations in my pedal at once also. it only stopped when everything in the bell housing broke one day. it had only done it for a few days though. but anyway i learned that everything was worn out. there is a collar that the bearing rides on that sometimes gets ridges in it, also there is a lead weight on the fulcrum that can get loose. last but not least the post that the fulcrum uses when it is enaged can wear out.......hope this helps also if some of this is wrong then you may also have other problems like a bad presure plate that is out of balance causing the vibrations with the engine.

how do I remove the top bolts from the tranny?

by

I have a 98 gt w/t45 tranny. I am trying to replace clutch, but I cant seem to get a tool around the top two bolts. Any suggestions would be great thanks!

top bolts

by

the way i did them was to hook up several long extensions and a swivel and go over the housing from towards the back of the transmission. it also helps if the transmission brackes are already off or loose so everything rolls back to give you more room on top so you can go over everything. good luck

styled steel wheels good or bad?

by chris

Hello Everyone!
Need some help, I would like to put 14x6 styled steel wheels on my 66 fastback. I have 12 inch dics up front and drums on the back, I'm told that this size wheel is not deep enough due to the disc breaks. I also hear that there are cheap ss wheels out there but how do I know whats a good brand? Any help/info would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Swapping 19872.3 engine to a 5.0- need advice please!!!

by

I have cracked the head on my 1987 2.3 liter manual transmission. In the past three months that I have owned the car I have put over $3000 into it and driven it a total of 2 weeks. I found a new head w/ valves and everything for $370 and adding the gasket kit, bolts and a new timing belt I am looking at another $500. I have a friend who will do the work for me at a low cost and he has found a 5.0 enging with around 90k on it that he will be pulling from a van. He is willing to install the engine for a total of $250. He seems to think that all we will have to do is move the motor mounts and the trans will line up, but I've got others telling me that I will have to redo the wiring and there will be a lot more incidentals including a different rear end. Is this true? What am I better off doing? I really like the idea of haveing a 5.0, it's something I'va always wanted, and if I do it I plan on overhauling the exterior and interior (I already have sunk in more $$$ than it's worth) What is your advice. Keep in mind I am not a tech, so if you can post as simplified as possible, otherwise I can get my friend to translate tech jargin. Thank you in advance for your help.

You will need to rewire the car, get a new transmission, and a new rear end. You will also need to get a beefier suspension in the fron to handle the extra weight of the bigger motor.

Re: LAST HELP TOPIC I SWEAR!!!!

by stangman666

The single biggest problem with 88 Mustangs is the electrical. Your best bet is to have it rewired completely when you do the engine swap (the first mod you should do) which will include a new rear end (3.73's with a power adder or 4.10's without), a new transmission (for 10's in the 1/4 you will require an AOD with a shift kit and stall converter). The engine I recommend for what you want to do is a Ford Racing crate motor M-6007-C347 (450 HP, 400 FT/LBS TQ) or M-6007-A392E (430 HP, 450 FT/LBS TQ).If you would rather go with technology go with a 5.4L V8 with a blower (the crate motors are cheaper and you won't need a blower), but I guarantee you they will not beat the two crate motors I just told you about. You will need a beefier front suspension for the added weight of a bigger motor than the 4 banger that was in there. Go with long tube headers true dual 2.5" with an off-road H-pie and Magnaflow Magnapacks 2.5" cat-back. For springs you should go with FMS 5300C springs. I have them and I love them. Subframe connectors are another nice touch for frame rigidity.

98 Factory Alarm is Bi-Polar!!!

by

I have a 98 GT convertible, and the alarm just goes off randomly for apparently no reason. I cannot use my power locks, or the alarm arms itself. I don't even want the flippin' alarm, does anyone know how to permanently disable it, or what might be wrong with it???

2004 Mustang GT automatic

by

I test drove a 2004 GT v8 automatic. It is a nice car but I want to know if others out there have had trouble with this car. What is known to break on it? Is the engine any good and will it last 150k miles? Is the tranny any good and how long will it last?
I want a car that will last me 7 years and over 100k miles. Will this car do that if you take proper care of it?
I just don't want to buy a car that breaks down all the time, like my 99 Saab 9-3 I have now. It is a pile of junk.
Thanks.
Matt

1969 T5 conversion

by

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a T5 transmission would bolt into the place of T3 transmission on the back of a 302 engine. If it does does anyone know what kind of work doing such would involve.

Thanks!
