Since September 11th you may have been delayed and inconvenienced a time or two, did you think that's the end of it? Do we move on to really unleash Big Brother? Think about it now, -street security cameras, national ID cards, allow the police etc. to intercept phone calls, listen in, include letters and e-mails at will. Your every move traced by a variety of electronic activity. How much is necessary to enhance security?

court backs off for now - not a good time

October 10 2001, 8:03 PM

Since September 11th attacks, gun sales are up sharply in the U.S. and they would be in Canada too if we were free to buy protection other than cap guns with orange tips. The U.S. supreme court also decided not to review (if would not be a good time to do so) a previous pro-gun ruling which protected gun manufactures against local government lawsuits (a back door policy of comrade Clinton) The anti-gun people are still trying to use the courts to force gun makers out of business.

the future is now!!!

some people are worried about big brothergetting into our phones and mail and being ewatched everywhere at anytime. that future is here and now and has been for a few years. look at all these realitiy cop shows everyone including the police have camaras.
all your phones calls go through a scanner which is monitored by a computer, if key words pop up in a conversation (email, voice and fax) the conversation is flagged and sent on to a person who then follows up to see if it is credible or just a conversation
if you dont believe look into this you wil;l be amazed

National finger printing?

October 15 2001, 1:18 PM

In Canada your finger print will soon be required at all air ports and eventually at every bank terminal. Canada is also a leader in developing face recognition software. That's right cameras(that will soon be everywhere)will be able to compare your face to a data base of millions. Whenever you pass a camera it can identify you and report your location.

Terrorism has everyone scared, Canadians and Americans are willing to give up their rights and privacy like never before in history. Government will no doubt take advantage. The constitution of Canada guarantees that the government will never spy on the general public. Terrorism is being used as an excuse to brake this promise.

no change

October 16 2001, 11:01 AM

This same evasive soft on crime kill the armed forces prime minister will act quickly on passage of any restrictive bill to surpress the rights of ordinary Canadians under any guise and he will continue to be the weakest link in American security because he still plans to do nothing meaningful to fight terrorism as the mickey mouse security of this country remains unchanged.

security update

March 16 2002, 7:48 PM

The only thing that has changed on the so called security scene in Canada is the $24. added to your airfare to pay for more fem-nazi type unarmed, untrained contract security guards on platform shoes to run around and pretend at the airports.
