Thank you. I am not as educated about the UN, but in many subjects such as abortion, gun issues and Christianity I am more infformed, (well I am getting there with scriptures). In recent weeks and months I have decided to become more offensive with my opinions because people just arent listening, esp. when it comes to abortion. I feel we all need to ban together and put up a strong fight.. Doreen

Yes, we need to get the word out there and force the issues to the spotlight as there are a lot of sleeping people out there. They need to be awakened to what is going down. Let us stand in the gap and unite to fight for what is right.

Bill, You mentioned in my guestbook about being on the school board and all. What were you able to acomplish? My oldest is in kindergarten right now, so not a whole lot is going on. I volunteer at a Crisis Pregnancy Center and am trying to make a difference in my town.

Issues

I know it is hard to fight the school board but I did for many years even though the leftwing media smeared me enough while running for the school board that I did not win a seat myself (I did come close, I would have needed 2,000 more votes) A woman from my church did get elected and I was able to discuss some of my concerns with her and to her credit she fought for changes and did see some as well. She became the chairperson of the board and there were some changes made in the curriculum for the good. I continued to fight the wrongs in the system on an individual front and was down to their office in their face on a number of issues. A kindergarden teacher once told the class that evolution was the beginning and my son stood up and said no, we came from God, - you are wrong. Needless to say when I found out that teacher was called into the principals office and we had it out and with the apology I was assured that this topic would not be brought up again and that my sons faith would be respected. Many battles, but you have to be in their face demanding your rights or they will walk all over you and your child. Make a point to stay on top of the issues through the PTA, pick up a copy of the curriculum,- they have one and from kindergarden on up. Don't take no for an answer. If the school puts you off tell them you will go to the board, if that does'nt get them I would tell them I would get the minister of education involved and my member of parliament and the Prime Minister if necessary and fight them all the way to the supreme court.

Bill, Does this mean you are not completely against public schools? I am always afraid to join new groups because my daughter is in public school. I wanted to homeschool, but my husband was against it. After much soul searching, I left the decision to him. Although there is a lot of bad, there is still some good. I have started a Moms In Touch group and pray all the time. I want to start another with moms who are more active and have kids right in the same school as mine so we can ban together and compare notes etc.. I have been active in the campaign in town and am meeting some of the people around town. Thank you for your encouragement. It helps a lot. It seems there are those who are only for homeschooling on one end, and those who see absolutely nothing wrong with P.S. on the other end. Its hard to find people in between. Doreen

school issues

Private Christian schools I feel are the best solution; however, I could not afford to send my children to private schools so that left the public school system. Home school works for some people, but your husband is right - why not use the public school system that you support with your taxes. You as the parent are in charge of your child so don't let the public tax funded school system push you around look out for the best interests of your child. The PTA is a waste of time as they are more concerned about raising money for school projects like new gym equipment etc. It is good to get a group of other parents together to act as a watch dog group checking the curriculum. Your child can tell you what they are learning in school and you can go over that and counteract wrong information in the context of God's word to the level of the childs understanding. Demand better from the public school system, keep on top of things, sit in on classes, read the text books and be in their face when they are out of line.

If you ever know of any web-sites for grass-roots groups regaurding public schools, could you send them my way? I have a few, but always like to hear about others. I am actually glad my husband insisted because when I really think about it, I am not organized enough to home-school.My daughter likes going so much that she sings while we walk. I will consider private if a problem comes up that cant be resolved, but I will put in one heck of a fight. I have 2 younger girls who will be following, so money is something to be considered. I believe though that by taking all the christian kids out of school, its only going to get worse. God might have been kicked out, but he has been invited back to many schools.. Doreen

second amendment

April 10 2000, 7:31 PM

The second amendment is under heavy attack since the U.S. is one if not the last country to be buckled under the global dictatorship heel. You notice Clinton never misses a chance to talk gun control. If the BATF want my guns, let them come. I will give them the ammunition first. April 29th would be a good day to meet bud in Montana same place,- send you an e-mail.

guns

April 10 2000, 7:39 PM

All guns in Canada must be registered by Jan. next year. Even though it seems like Americans are way behind on this step toward confiscation, they really are not as an executive order or as we would call it an order in council can be signed overnight.

The second Amendment

April 10 2000, 11:05 PM

To those who don't own a gun I would say get out and buy one now while you still may. When you get one secure it so your children cannot get hold of it. The second amendment is quite clear on the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed period... Our forefathers wrote that in there for our protection. When I give them my ammo it will be out of the barrel of my gun and it will be coming too fast to catch. While we are on this topic I would like to point out that Rick"s second page on the community list is the place to go for extensive information on this subject. He has an excellent site and well organized information better than I could provide.
