Hi,

I'm writing as a white Zimbabwian living in exile.

My family left in the mid 80's but we have many relatives still living in the country.

Recent news of murder, intimidation, rape and the destrucion of homes sadens me greatly.

Reading some of the comments made on Zimbabwe News Groups makes me feel that the dictatorship in that country is whiping up the sheep to pour hatred on the white minority.

There are approx 250,000 white (mainly of British ancestry) living in Zimbabwe. As such it has the second largest European population in Africa and the potential for violence against them is huge.

What worries me more than anything else is the intrasigence of the British government (once a great nation), Commonwealth, Europe, America and the West to what is happening over there.

Violence is not just being directed at the whites but they do appear to be the primary target. Anyone opposed to Mugabes rule or those concidered enemies of the state are being targeted.

The rule of law is being ignored, Police and Army directed to assist in the violence.

According to the Zimbabwe leadership, "whites cannot be Zimbabwian and should go home".

Back to the state of fear - like 1930's Germany, translate Jew into White - leaders who re-christen themselves after Hitler, as has happened. The scean is set.

Where is the West? Why so little said?

Must more inocent people die?

This is yet another perfect example of why we should NOT be involved in the United Nations - An Overwhelming level of Hypocracy.

While the U.N. has been quick to override sovereingty on a number of occassions to rush to the aid of nations in distress, they have decided to completely ignore this issue.

Perhaps it is that they are incapable of seeing that causcasians, though not a perpetually protected group, can actually face... discrimination. Can actually be on the receiving end of... racism. Can actually be subject to ... racist motivated hatred.

All that being said, this is an internal matter, and nations around the world, should not intervene militarily in the internal affairs of other nations. However, a little condemnation wouldn't hurt nor would cutting off trading ties with Zimbabwe.

Unfortunately, too many have succumb to political correctness and turn a blind eye to incidences like this, where whites are on the receiving end.

There is no question that these farmers are being attacked because of their race. The forced seizure of their lands and the physical attacks should disgust the world. The silence must end, so that the violence might also.

Our morally confused Ledership must come to realize that racism and discrimination are always wrong; if Hitler does resurface again, it will be because we didn't learn our lesson the first time.

The Sharpened Pen

All the people , black or white in Zimbabwe are hostage to Mugabe and his thugs who are determined to hold on to power. He is against the white farmers because they support the opposition movement and so this corrupt dictatorship authorized the confiscation of land without compensation. Mugabe government then delivers these black (armed by the government) so called war veterans to white farms - they are being bussed there by government vehicles. The seizure of white lands is fine with the government and you notice Mugabe does not speak out against this. The world should condem and cut off aid to Zimbabwe, and if necessary send in troops to protect white farmers from being murdered by Mugabe and his armed thugs.

Mugabe is not fit to be president and the killing of white farmers is ok with him. He should know that the economy will crash if he drives the whites out, but all he cares about is hanging on to power so the land grab serves hip purpose well. The world will not condem them and if successful in these efforts, the government after killing off the economy will go cap in hand asking for handouts and a hue and cry will go out about all these rich white landowners leaving the country in ruin after making profit for so long and leaving. Nothing will be said about them being murdered and driven off their land and aid will flow in and Mugabe and his band of killers will be victims once again.
