The US government will be behind higher prices for gas by summer. Industry analysts suggest that the new clean air laws could force gasoline price in the U.S. up asthe refineries cover cost to make so called reformulated gas. It is expected that that will take a big bite out of gas inventories in the U.S. In the fall last year rising oil prices forced refiners to increase price at the pump, this sparked consumer outrage thus fierce lobbying of OPEC members (oil cartel producing much of the worlds crude. While oil prices have fallen a bit, the economy being heated has burned up gas inventories. The new environmental laws will force refineries to shut down to install equipment and as supplies drop, prices will soar. |
