If the U.S. thinks for a moment that Vojislav Kostunica (the new elected president of Yugoslavia) a proud Serb, is about to become their lapdog who barks and bows at Washingtons whim- forget it now Yanks! He will not be Washingtons Pet. He will not give up Milosevic to the kangaroo court in the Hague. He does not condone the U.S./Nato fabricated air war directed against Serbia. Americans have a penchant for intruding into the affairs of other countries to the point they often jeopardize world peace. That draft dogger Clinton and his clone Gore are both commie shits. Go home Yanky imperialist dogs!
Do you even know what a Yankee is? (clue: it's not every American).
You seem to be under the impression that this group supports Clinton (and yes, he is a communist, that's no secret - you're not telling us anything there we don't know). No member here supports him.
You also seem to be under the impression that we support NATO. I don't, nor do I know of anyone here who does. By the way, the U.S. is not NATO, the U.S. is a MEMBER of NATO (unfortunatly).
Please note: There is no need to swear in this group. It shows low intelligence and lack of respect. I suggest you read posts and get a feel for a group before posting.
Personally, I don't give a rats-backside for the Balkans or their government. (what we need your military support or your technology?). You say the U.S. disrupts world peace?!?! The people of the entire Middle East have been killing each other LONG before the U.S. was a country.
I suggest you learn a bit about Americans - a small amount of knowledge is dangerous. You have a small amount of knowledge. Read posts and find out what a group is about before posting.
Shifts in political power due to globalization of the world economy gives the U.S. less control over its own destiny and less time to decide how to react to an international crisis. Add to this the fact that Clinton-Gore just wing it anyway and don't know witch way to blow.
Canada also is a nato member and was involved in the Balkans, not as Canada but as a nato member. There was a public outcry here about that action. Mike has set you straight on a few points if you need more direction perhaps you could send me an e-mail, I unlike you did include my e-mail. I guess the U.S. is the bad guy for all your home-made ills, maybe you need to look within.
I agree with virtually everything you've said except that you really shouldn't refer to Americans as "yanks".
There was absolutely no basis for the U.S. or more accurately, NATO, taking action in Yugoslavia. For, in so doing, they interfered in an purely "internal" conflict and violated national sovereignty in the process.
Nato was called in because consensus could not be reached by the U.N. although the U.N was almost completely behind the action.
The Bosnians made claims of war atrocities such as mass graves full of civilian bodies-although most of these claims could not be substantiated. In many instances, the graves were found to be full of bosnian soldiers, or, worse yet, the people that were reportedly slaughtered, were found marching towards town.
This is not to say that Serbia did not commit atrocities. It very likely did. But, how much press was there for ethnically motivated attacks by Bosnians against Serbs, or the mass graves containing SERBIANS? Virtually none. But these things happened as well.
Nato killed its fair share of casualties too, but tried to fudge the truth as much as possible.
For example, a passenger train, passing under a bombing site was hit and men, women and children died as a result. BUT, when Nato showed the tape, they explained that the pilot did not have time to react. It was later discovered that the tape had been slowed substantially from its original play speed.
Americans cannot be held responsible for the action in Serbia, however, because the U.S. is nothing more than a global policeman for backroom elitists. Sad, but true.
What bothered me about the election in Serbia, however, was the blatant propaganda by the U.S. and U.N. suggesting that sanctions would only be lifted if Serbians voted against Milosovich. What kind of election is that? Your family can have food on your plates, just vote the way we want you to?
I agree with much of your sentiment. Surely internal conflicts and national elections are not the domain of American, Nato, or United Nations officials.
On the bright side though, the door to door confiscation of arms in Serbia by American soldiers will help ready them for confiscation plans being formulated back in the U.S. That, at least, should save the U.S. some money in training costs.
