As a registered voter who took the time to go to the polls and properly understand the ballot before me, and accurately marked my choices, I emplore you to stop the perpetuation of this scandalous debacle we are calling election non-results.
The American people voted on November 7. Governor George W. Bush won 31 states with a total of 271 electoral votes. The vote in Florida was very close, but when it was counted and recounted, Governor Bush was the winner. No evidence of vote fraud either in the original vote or in the recount has been presented.
There is a rule of law to be followed for elections. The state of Florida has established legal procedures to design, approve, publish and, if need be, to protest ballots before the election. The ballot was designed by a Democratic elections supervisor. She approved it. The Democratic Party did not question it before the election.
It is now surfacing that many or most of the 19,000 discarded ballots were, in fact, lawfully and properly replaced when voters who made the mistake came out of the voting booth, requested and received replacement ballots then cast a proper vote! Gore supporters and the media are ignoring this fact, spurring outrage by conservatives that the truth is being suppressed and causing minorities in that county to take to the streets demanding a re-vote. Such a re-vote is not only illegal under Florida law, it is also illegal under federal law. (3 U.S.C. 1).
We are not Europeans, Asians or Africans who wait and plead for a foreign power to save us from tyranny. We are Americans! Put an end to this political impasse - Governor George W. Bush is the president-elect.
