The 24 crew members of the U.S. spy plane have been returned to the U.S., The plane remains in China. Very likely the Chinese claim they got the apology they demanded. In many places outside the U.S. that is what the take on things is.
In Canada, the left wing media reported the American plane collided with a Chinese jet as if to imply that it was the fault of the U.S. plane. I don't see how that could be the case if the U.S. plane was on auto pilot. I think I would believe the Americans ahead of the Chinese.
Thanks Friend,
You are right, the Chinese jet that collided with US plane was indeed at fault. But the Media has to report what they are told. I am a Pilot, and even the jets we flew in Viet Nam couldn't fly slow enough to maintane a stable flight with a propeller type plane. I saw film clips of the jet along side of the recon. plane and he was having trouble holding it.
THE UNITED STATES is sending eight delegates to the talks in Beijing. The U.S. ambassador to China, Joseph Prueher, will not be one of them, however, reflecting Washington’s determination that the talks focus on the April 1 incident over the South China Sea and not expand into larger issues of U.S.-Chinese relations, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.
White House press secretary Ari Fleischer said the United States wanted the agenda to include explaining the collision, how to prevent further accidents, why China had challenged U.S. surveillance flights and making it clear that the United States expected the return of the crippled EP-3E aircraft, which remains on the southern Chinese island of Hainan.
China has stressed that it still blames the U.S. pilot, and it has indicated that it will demand an end to U.S. surveillance flights near its coast. But The Washington Post quoted Navy sources Monday as saying the flights might resume as early as Thursday in international airspace about 50 miles off the Chinese coast.
