More than 18,000 personnel will participate in a combined U.S., Australian and Canadian military training exercise, Tandem Thrust '01. The exercise will take place in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area, Queensland, Australia, May 3-29, 2001.

Tandem Thrust is a combined task force training exercise sponsored by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and U.S. Pacific Command. It is designed to train the Seventh Fleet commander's staff as a designated Joint Task Force (JTF) headquarters. The exercise will train the JTF Headquarters, along with the staff of headquarters Australian theater, and the deployable joint force headquarters in crisis action planning and execution for contingency response operations.

Pacific Command units, to include the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, are scheduled to participate with units of the Australia Defense Force's maritime air and land commands. Training will include naval, air, and land operations. The exercise's opposing forces will be provided by Canadian Naval and Air Force units, with elements of U.S. units and Australian Defense Force commands.

flying obese

Argument is being made here in Canada to give obese travellers a free extra seat on airline flights. One of these civil liberties people was charged for an additional seat on an Air Canada flight. Airlines do not discriminate against overwight fliers by forcing them to buy a second seat or upgrade to executive class if they cannot fit into a standard seat. As it stands, they are allowed to buy a second seat at 50 per cent off. In most cases these people are responsible for their size because they are gluttons. Why should the industry provide an extra free seat because someone has belly up to the table and just stayed there? They need two seats, let them pay for two seats or lose the weight and save money.

obese flyers

These Porkers need to lift their snout out of the trough long enough to get a good look at themselves and realize how they got that way in the first place. If they are as big as two normal people, then let them pay for two seats. I have seen some of these people in the shopping malls and wondered how they may look more at home out in a pasture.
