After settling in at our cabin (which was arrnged for by Bloom, who should be a tour guide ), we decided to go for a much needed and deserved long walk along side the Naeroyfjord (http://www.gudvangen.com/side2.htm) , the end of which touches Gudvangen, whci is where Nerdo and I were staying for a couple nights. I think we started our walk around 7pm or so. We walked a loooooooooooong way, and it was quite relaxing.

This is looking back at Gudvangen, at the area where we would catch the ferry to Flam the following day.

Nerdo can't wait for a drink, so enjoys some of the water from melt off.

Looking back toward Gudvangen again, after walking around a point that hides Gudvangen.

We met up with rogue gropu of savage beasts and Nerdo did her best to calm them down.

In the end, she took one for the team.

Further up the road, we ran into another vicious beast. Fortunately, Nerdo was able to negotiate with the vile bunny, and no Holy Hand Grenade was required.

We came up on theis very remote village. It's amazing that there is a small community back here. It's soooo tiny and off the beaten path.

After all the stress of driving over mountain passes at midnight, rain rain rain, me laughing at my own jokes, hordes of marauding animals...Nerdo finally snapped! It was very disturbing.

On the way back, we came upon these boulders that had crashed down from the cliffs above, onto the path'road. This is the source of Brandi's rock from Norge.

Gudvangen at night from the fjord. It was pretty late. Around midnight I think. Help me on this one Nerdo.

Rimmer: So, let me get this straight. You want to fly on a magic carpet to see the King of the Potato People and plead with him for your freedom, and you're telling me you are completely sane?!

The little village we came to...

August 23 2007, 7:30 PM

...
is called Bakka. It consists of a few houses and one church, which is supposed to be the smallest church in use in Norway. The village consists of ten houses at the most, probably less.

We started walking around 9 in the evening, and walking for nearly 2 hours dodging mad cow herds, killer rabbits, raging waterfalls, roads broken from the water and waiting patiently for Scott taking pictures at every opportunity, we found out that we had to turn around even though we hadn't reached the end of the road. It was getting dark and we were both getting tired.

The view along the road was magnificent, though.
Before we arrived I actually expected Gudvangen to be a bit more than a camping area and a gas station, so I got a bit stressed out when we first arrived...the view was magnificent, the cabin was tiny, but cute, but I remember thinking, is this it????

This is the view towards one of the mountainsides from the cabin we stayed in

I remember thinking "There are nearly any buildings or houses here...we're in the middle of nowhere! I can't even see the fancy hotel I saw pictures of on the website! Where is it??"
We looked around for a bit and found out that the fancy hotel looked like a semi-large cottage with grass on it's roof near the gas station. We went inside to look around and ask questions at the information desk and the hotel was really fancy, they had a bar and a restaurant, and a bunch of young adults sitting around drinking drinks and chatting with people on their laptops.
We were fine with no wireless, cracker bread and brown cheese... hihihihi....

After a long journey to get there we were now ready for the next day and even more amazing nature!
