I'm the proud owner of a 17-yr old bay mare, CL Keligirl. I was told she was straight Egyptian, shpped in from Colorado. We were also told she's "The old, OLD Eqyptian blood" - and have been trying to obtain info on her bloodlines(3 lines to Dharebah, 2 to Dhareb & 3 to Tripoli as well as JADAAN & LETAN). We were also informed that one of Keli's colts was purchased by a shiek and exported to the Middle East. Many of the names in her pedigree were extremely foreign to me, with the exception of Hanad. The owner's representative kept stressing the fact that Keli had 3 links to Tripoli. I'd never heard of Tripoli & began my search into Keli's pedigree. My friend, Diana, in Seaford DE has a book that depicts the old Egyptian blood and she sent me copies of some of Keli's ancestors & info on Mr. Davenport. I found the Davenport info on-line and this site. I plan to purchase Mr. Davenport's book, "My Quest of the Arabian Horse." Maybe I'll find some photos in it (our Keli is built much like the description of Wadudda. When I first saw Keli, I was reminded of Witez II. I'm reading some of the stories in the site, I'm finding many of Keli's relatives - ie, her great-grandsire, Akmet Haffez. I believe we have a Davenport decendent here on the East coast!
I plan to breed Keli this month to Diana's stallion, an Ansata El Ghazal son/Ibn Sudan grandson. We have a yearling filly, JE's ASAL (aka SOONER - born 2 weeks earlier than expected) by this same stallion, out of my daughter's Egyptian mare, Sokkarah. "Sooner" is very typey with extremely animated gaits and a disposition that's sweet as honey (asal - appropriately named, I believe). Keli also has a wonderful disposition. I'm hoping Keli's foal will too! I will be doing more research on Keli's pedigree - is there anyone I can contact if I have "Davenport" questions?
