Keligirl

Darcy,

Thanks for your response. Not only am I enjoying Keligirl, I'm astounded by the information I've rec'd from other Davenport owners, websites, etc. and having a ball taking in all of this. I love finding out about Keligirl's family - I did view the list of Straight Davenports decending from the 2nd foundation mare, ASARA (viewed in Kim Davis' website). She has been very informative - Keligirl is of the rare Kuhaylan kurush strain & and Kim also directed me to the susbscribe address as well as a photo site. Michael Bowling also gave me a few tidbits: Keliigirl has a few kids! A daughter (DDA Samha - by DDA Semper Fi; & 2 sons, DDA Jowad & DDA Sakhar, both by Letarnad & owned by Princess Alia & the UAE. (I found them on the above ref'd list). High-C must be a great mare - I saw her name several times on the list. Michael Bowling stated he'd seen Keli's sire, Plantagenet.

I'm jealous you got to see Keli as a youngster. Even though she's 17 now, she looks great! And the way she romps in the pasture, kicking up her heals, tossing her head & playing "tag" w/our yearling filly & 2 yr old gelding, you'd think she was a youngin' herself. and, yes, she's very, very sweet. The only problem I've had with her is loading on the 2-horse, ramp-style trailer. She has no problem w/a stock trailer. But with a little patience and a lot of coaxing & practice, she'll load. Quite a smart girl!

I'd love a shot of High-C! Did she have a white "C" on her forehead? Keligirl has one. I've found a few photos of some of Keligirl's relatives. It's all very facinating. I'd love to contact the Cravers. I've been reading stuff about them on the Davenport sites. They sound like wonderful people. I'd like to let them know that Keligirl is alive and kickin' and will have a loving home for the rest of her life. I'd like to ask them what type traiining Keligirl has had - I was told she was a broodmare her first 13 years then was broken at 14. I've ridden her a few times - she's green, but very willing to please.

Keli & my filly are going to a back-to=back show this weekend, then Keli's going to Seaford, DE to be bred. Unfortunately, I'd already contracted this breeding and paid all the fees. I read something about how this Kurush line is dying out - I told Kim Davis I may be enlisting her help next year to find a Davenport stallion for Keligirl as I'd like to help preserve it. I told Keli all I wanted from her was 1 foal by this stallion (my filly's sire) who throws very pleasant, animated, typey, intelligent people-loving babies (we have 3 of his kids - all out of different mares, but exhibit those qualities I just mentioned).

Sorry to have prattled on so - I'm just excited I've gone from recognizing 1 name in Keligirl's pedigree (Hanad) to being flooded with all this new information!
It's great! I've been waiting for an excuse to hook-up the scanner - I'll make the time to do so and send you a photo of Keligirl - the Delaware Davenport.

Thanks again, Darcy.

Debi
