Homer Davenport drawing

by

To the lovers of Davenport Arabians,

I have recently made a discovery about a drawing that has been in my family for a number of years. It is a 1905 drawing by Homer Davenport of arabian horses in a parade. This was one year before he brought back the "Davenport arabians" to America. The drawing has a dedication on the bottom saying, "To Mr. Ramsdell, We both love arab horses." Mr. Ramsdell, by my research, is J.A.P. Ramsdell, a well known Chicago-area breeder of arab horses mentioned in Homer's writings in 1906.

The picture is beautiful and I am curious to know if there is a major magazine or publication about Davenport arabians. I would like to share the drawing with those who love the horses as well.

Please e-mail me and let me know what publications I may want to contact. Thanks for your help in advance.

Sincerely,
David Soleil
