Ceilidh in aid of the Stroke Association

by Jake Young

Wymondham Village Hall
Saturday 13th September 2008 at 7:30pm

Jackie Wilson (an intrepid explorer from the foothills of Wymondham) is taking part in a big challenge for the Stroke Association and will be trekking at altitude in the Lares region of Peru for five days.

The first part of this challenge is to raise £2850 in sponsorship. The Stroke Association would like Jackie to raise this (with your help!) by 31st December 2008. All funds raised at the Ceilidh will help towards achieving the £2850 goal.

Tickets are £6 in advance or £7 on the door and are available by telephoning 01572 787 489 or emailing jackiewilsonx@btinternet.com. There will be a licensed bar and raffle. Dances will be called and the music provided by Flower of the Thorn.

We look forward to seeing you!

Showcase Event

by

Hello to all members of Clubs & Societies in Wymondham.

Can any societies and groups that would be interested in 'Showcasing' their club at a special regional
'SHOWCASE EVENT' on Saturday 27th September, please contact me.

There will be representatives from clubs and societies from all over the county to show how their club has helped their community.
It will be a fantastic venue for your club to receive recognition of the work that you do for the community and could highlight your club/society for further training and funding opportunities!

Hope to hear from you.

Rural Development Worker

by

Hello
My name is Elaine Underwood and I would like to intoduce myself as the newly appointed Rural Community Officer at Voluntary Action Melton- for Wymondham village and would be very pleased to meet the people of the village in the next month or so.
My job is specifically to give any assistance to those community groups in the village that already exist and to identify any gaps in provision for the people of Wymondham. I also have a remit to map the provision already in your village for all age groups and to enable people to start new clubs, by using the expertise of our base in Melton to help.

I would be delighted to hear from any interested clubs or organisations or indeed if anyone would like to put their name forward to be a volunteer for Wymondham.
Kind Regards
Elaine

THE COSMIC SAUSAGES IN CONCERT

by Jake Young

8:00pm Sunday 30 March 2008
Wymondham Village Hall

Licensed bar & complimentary nibbles.
Tickets £8 (£6 concessions) purchased in advance or £10 (£8 concs) on the door available from 01572-787247 or 07792-756511

This is a family friendly show!

With a repertoire of hundreds of songs, melodies and theme tunes, the Cosmic Sausages take their audience on a madcap musical tour of the world, meeting up with James Bond, Serge Gainsbourg, the Mafia, deranged cowboys, faith healers, Cossacks and overacting popstars along the way.

Appearing first as a gentle folk band and armed only with acoustic instruments, close harmonies and a shared vision of the surreal, the Cosmic Sausages ambush their audience with a sustained barrage of pop classics, mixing theatre, circus, slapstick, competitions, crowd participation and insane walkabouts.

The Cosmics were formed in 1990 and developed their show during an epic 5-month European tour taking in twelve countries and performing their streetshows over 250 times. Appearing regularly at many festivals such as Glastonbury (5 times!), they have also found themselves embedded in local folklore in many towns where they have become street performance legends!

Check out their website for more details: http://www.cosmicsausages.com/

by

I am looking for news or whereabouts of Tony Bailey.I used to live in the village in the 1950s, my father was the village policeman.Tony lived in the block of houses on the left as you leave the village going out to Saxby?Melton.I believe he went to work for the cottesmore hunt after leaving school. He would be in his late 60s now.We both belonged to the local riding school run by Mr Len Thacker, who I do know passed away some years ago I can be contacted on e mail or 01527 547215.many thanks

postal details for member of village

by Helen

Dear Jake (and wymondham residents)

I visited the village last year tracing some family heritage (my greatgrandfather and family are buried in the church)
at the time, trevors house was pointed out to me as someone who could probably enlighten me a little more due to all his research, as I was on my own and feeling shy I didnt persue it!

now however I would like to get in touch with him and would be very grateful if someone could get in touch with me!

as I am not sure how open this website is I will send my email address direct to jake to prevent it being on an open forum

thanking you in anticipation

helen

I haven't received your email, but then I don't know where it was sent!

One source of contact details is www.bt.com - I've checked that the information you require is there.

Regards,

Jake
