I am for offering whatever the lifters want. We can vote at the USAPL State Meet and decide how we would like to address this.
At this point we have a bunch of masters lifters and Teen/Junior (Collegiate) lifters that enter meets. Naturally I will offer those divisions. There are very few Open lifters entering meets. In fact, Open lifters are the minority. That being said it will come down to what the Teen/Junior lifters and Masters lifters would like to do with the Divisions. In the past, about 20 years ago, the Teen and Masters divisions were decided strictly by formula. Top 5 in the teen and top 5 in the masters.
I don't think that it is any secret that things get tough when you approach the 50 year old mark and up. I feel that there should be a masters division but maybe address the multiple age brackets and out in a formula for top 5 or perhaps do this in the Open division...........until we get meets with more than 20 entries in the Open.......maybe we should put them on the formula and have a light weight Open State Champ, Middle Weight Open State Champ, and Heavy Weight Open State Champ.
I am for whatever the lifters decide. Any USAPL member will have input in this decision. This may need to be done at the state meet this year to get everyone's input.
