Just about now Linda I am ready to trade mud for New York humidity. Today it hit 90. That's about 31 degrees Centigrade. Tomorrow it will be hotter with about 95% humidity.

Rain!

June 28 2008, 6:21 AM

Hi Sandi

Send some hot weather my way - we are seriously drowning in rain. Last night I saw Scottish group Red Hot Chilli Pipers perform at Cumnock Music Festival after I was done with my performance, and the rain just fell heavily!! I had to stay sober and drive home so I wouldn't get soaked as I already have a rotten cold!!!

Today has been Scottish BBQ Day

Pissed down until 4pm...quickly rolled the BBQ out......then it pissed down again until 7pm... so currently BBQing in the garage, however what makes it all bearable is a wee 25yr old friend called Glenfiddich!

Currently got about 20 friends and neighbours around eating wet burgers, chicken and steak....but what the hey!!!! it's summer

Rain!

July 1 2008, 3:39 AM

Hahaha Paddy I see what you mean - it's not easy to get a BBQ going in this darn weather! It's yet to improve and the gales this morning... felt more like the month of October!! I need to emigrate!!! I'm getting more depressed daily!! Cumnock Music Festival over the weekend was a mud fest!!! Poor Bon Giovi must have thought they were drowning Didn't get to see how Glastonbury fared in the rain but at this rate ... I just don't want to know!!!

Here in South Mississippi we've had the rain, hat AND humidity! Today was the first day without rain in a week, and it looks like rain every day from Thursday through the next Tuesday.

After it rains the temp will drop from the low 90s to the 80s or even upper 70s for a short time - but it bounces back and with the humidity it's like being in a steam sauna.

If you're sick of the rain ,many places in the US would bother you just as much. Best weather here is on the Southern California coast - RIGHT on the coast. 10 miles inland it can suck, but right on the beach it's sunny, breezy and average temp of 68 to 72 Fahrenheit. The downside is that it's incredibly expensive to live there.

I wouldn't mind Scotland at this point, I'm used to the rain and I'd prefer the low temps!

Rich I always feel guilty complaining about the heat and humidity here when I remember that it gets twice as bad down south.

I'm sorry your trash cans blew over Linda, no fun cleaning up that mess in a storm or after!

I hate to say this after we got dashed by Katrina, but I actually enjoy a good tropical storm that isn't quite a hurricane! The wind and rain are a beautiful thing if I've battened down the hatches and don't have to go driving to the store in it. I'll go out on the porch and absorb the wind and smell the rain, I missed it terribly when I lived in Los Angeles.

Of course too much of anything gets old. It's gonna rain here tomorrow through the weekend, which it being our Independence Day holiday it could hurt the fireworks displays.

I hope it clears up for you soon though; maybe you'll get an awesome rainbow!

The thing is we complain but there really isn't any justification to it.

I couldn't live in The South USA. I love Florida and visit every year - but would never go there between June & Sept as it is just too humid/hot/wet/windy. I couldn't imagine living there all year round.

Hope the rain stays away for your 4th July celebrations guys.

Rain!

July 3 2008, 6:00 AM

Hi Rich

Cheers! Well I suppose we have nothing to fear when I see the hurricanes you guys get over in the good old USA!! I guess a bit of localised flooding is nothing really!!!

Hope you guys get great weather for 4th July

Re: Rain!

July 7 2008, 3:03 PM

Hi Linda,

apparently your wish was Nature's command! We had an overcast due to a front moving through, but it didn't actually rain. So the temps were only in the mid-80s and the breeze was a steady 10-15 mph, which makles it pretty pleasant.

My sister showed up in town spontaneously and we had great BBQ, then watched the fireworks display from bayside. Actually we could see the shows from two adjacent towns at once, plus the people partying along the beach had quite a lot of pretty big fireworks as well!

It was hot as hell the next day, but the holiday itself was great! So thanks for the positive mojo!
