| Thanks for your reply. My vet did adjust the dosage for rats. I've given him the Drug Usage Chart for rats and he keeps it in their file, but that is a good point you brought up with the tail. I was thinking when he was telling me that just because it's okay for dogs does not mean it is okay for rats to be on it an extended period of time. He felt it was doing more good than harm. I am thinking of taking Missy off the tetracycline. She appears to be doing fine. As I said in my post a few days ago, though, she got sneezy the last time I took her off. Do some of you just let your rats be sneezy as long as there are no other symtoms? I hate to have her constantly medicated, but if that's what it takes... Since the dexamethazone is mixed with the tetra and I need to taper her off that, she will get the tetra for a while more. He also gave me some plain tetracycline to use if needed once I get her off the dexamethasone. What's with the yogurt? What does it do? Is the "live culture" kind found at the grocery store? I've never paid much attention to that. | |
