...I kept him in a smaller, 2-storey rat cage when he was a baby and plan on doing the same thing with the new male I'm getting soon (hopefully).
He can't get out of it at all and he loves it. It also provides good excercise as his food is on the bottom floor and his igloo where he stashes the food is on the top - he runs up an down that thing all night! I also have a couple of hammockes, some ferret tunnels, boxes, towels, a little rattie bed and some flat rocks on the bottom floor for sharpening his claws.
I've been waiting a while to get my new boy but I'm trying to be patient. So I hope this helped. He has tried to squeeze through but he definitely can't fit.
