A fellow Finnish Renault enthusiast is going to France end of September to search for all sorts of interesting Renault stuff from French scrapyard, and he's taking orders so he can see if he can find what's needed.

I'm interested in leather seats for my R19. My question is, have you seen any such R19s with leather seats at your local scrapyards? How much do they generally want for such a set in good condition (front seats, back seat)? 350 euros? More? Less?

I went to a local Finnish scrapyard and asked how much they usually want for leather interiors. They said they had just sold one from an Audi, in very good condition for roughly 330 euros. The problem is, to my knowledge, not one R19 came to Finland with optional leather, let alone one having been scrapped here. But I know the leather option must have been more common there in France. Am I right?

Weren't those optional R19 leather seats usually in black leather and shaped like the 16V buckets, even if they had been ordered to a TXE/TXI for example? I know the Cabriolet had grey seats and the Baccara had magnolia (or similar), but it's the black 16V style I'm interested in (although they're bl***y hot in the summer!)

As far as i know, you won't find many leather interiors for R19. The only reason is that this car was a family and popular car. I don't know if there was a "Baccara" version of the 19, but leather interiors will be in my mind very expensive, due to their rarity. But as far as i know cheaper than one from a clio, for example.
Good Luck !

Dear Juha,

I saw in another forum that you can find in the switzlerland scrapyard many parts for your car. One of the guys was telling that he bought a leather interior for his r19 , 2 years ago for 650ffr (approx: 100 euro). I know that is not the France but they say is cheaper in switzerland.

you will find the adress on this link but all the text is in french:

They also put a web link for a scrapyard :

http://www.demol-auto.ch

If that can help you,

best regards.

Hi Juha,
I am almost exhausted to write here that we have plenty of new (not almost new, genuinly new) parts of almost all kind of R-12-9-11-19-Megane, because we produced them (produce for Megane)and we have them hundred of tousends. We left to produce R-19, I think in 2001 and our industry still produce all of its parts (for 1400 carburettor, 1400i, 1600 carburettor, 1600i,1800i, 19diesel 65ps, sedans, hatchbacks). In this context you can find either textile or leather covered seats in Turkey. Further more Finnair I think daily flight to Istanbul, maybe Turkish Airlines also to Helsinki. I can say you also that Turkey is not yet a full member of EU, but it it has a custom union with EU (I think the unic country). So if you are not worry that we are bit south of your country, try Istanbul to see a genuin Renault heaven (I am in Ankara, but Istanbul is more international).
Considerations.
Orhan.
