WWE Smackdown tapings
July 11, 2004
Hampton Beach, N.H. at Hampton Beach Casino
Report sent to PWTorch from a rep from BostonWrestling

(1) Sho Funaki defeated Jamie Noble The referee caught Noble with a fist full of tights, and while they argued Funaki rolled up Noble for the three count.

(2) Mark Jindrak defeated Scotty Too Hotty Teddy Long introduced Jindrak to the crowd. Scotty hit the worm and as the ref was about to count three, Long jumped up on the apron. Scotty went after Long but was blindsided by Jindrak, leading to the victory.

Kurt Angle and Luther Reigns welcomed the crowd to the Hampton Beach Casino. He said that John Cena was stripped of the US Title, but the WWE Board of Directors were forcing him to have another title shot. Angle refused to let him have a shot at the US Title, so he ordered him to face John Layfield for the WWE Championship later in the night. Angle was still disgusted with Charles Robinson for the Sable vs. Torrie Wilson Great American Bash match, so he made Reigns vs. Robinson on the spot.

(3) Luther Reigns NC Charles Robinson Reigns tossed Robinson around like a child's toy until Charlie Haas pulled him out of the ring. Angle was so upset he made a match between Haas and Reigns on Smackdown! this week.

(4) FBI defeated Basham Brothers Johnny Stambolli set up a Basham a la the old Demolition finisher only to have Nunzio legdrop his opponent off the top rope for the victory.

(5) Kenzo Suzuki defeated Spike Dudley Kenzo had Spike in the Tongan Death Grip then took out his legs for the three count. It appeared he has been studying tapes of Haku.

(6) Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Booker T Booker was going for a powerbomb but Rey rolled it into a sunset flip. The spot was botched as Booker wound up in the ropes and the ref could have counted to about 15.

(7) Rene Dupree defeated Orlando Jordan Dupree hit Jordan with the Michinoku Driver. You could have heard a pin drop during Orlando's entrance.

(8) The Dudley Boyz defeated Hardcore Bob Holly and Billy Gunn in a #1 Contenders Match. While Bubba Ray and Holly battled outside the ring, Gunn went for the Fameasser. Bubba tripped Gunn, Gunn turned around and D-Von gave him a low blow while the ref was distracted.

(9) Sable defeated Miss Jackie & Dawn Marie in a Swimsuit Contest.

(10) John Bradshaw Layfield (w/Kurt Angle) defeated John Cena to retain the WWE Hvt. Title. Tremendous heat as Cena's hometown was only minutes away from the venue. Cena hit Layfield with the FU but Angle pulled the ref out of the ring before hitting three. Cena chased Angle around the ring, but once entering the ring, Layfield gave Cena the Clothesline From Hell to end the show.

Notes: show was just about sold out. The Casino is tiny but it was a great location for a pro wrestling event. Crowd was very disappointed that Eddie Guerrero and Rob Van Dam weren't there since in the local TV spots, Guerrero, Cena and Van Dam were the only three names mentioned.
