Shane Douglas doing ECW show, Kazarian coming up quick, Problems with Orton, and more

- Frankie Kazarian announced at the UPW show last night that he has signed a contract with WWE and will begin working on the main roster, not OVW, soon. Most figured that Kazarian would spend some time in OVW before being called up to the main roster.
- Word is that Barry Werner was fired from his position as Head of WWE Magazine Publications because Vince McMahon did not like a lot of his recent covers, including one in particular. As we reported last week, Shane McMahon will be taking over most of Werner's duties.
- The original plan was to turn Randy Orton heel again, but he practically begged to remain baby face. There’s no word on whether his begging was effective or not, but it’s not likely that WWE management will be doing him any favors. As previously reported, management isn’t very happy with his backstage and road antics.
- WWE management has become more concerned with Randy Orton’s out of ring behavior. Some veterans say he is trying to “live it up” like there are no rules on the road.
One veteran had this to say about the situation with Orton: "He wants to be able to tell the stories that Ric Flair and Harley Race tell of their days on the road, but he's taking it too far. The business is different today--more corporate, more professional--and he doesn't seem to realize it or care."
- It looks like WWE is going to be building the Trish Stratus/Christy Hemme feud towards a title match at WrestleMania. Be expecting Christy, and her Playboy Magazine pictorial, to be getting a huge push on WWE TV throughout the next few weeks.
- The previously noted ECW reunion event that is being organized by Shane Douglas has been officially rescheduled for Friday, June 10 at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA. The show will have a 9pm belltime as it is slated to feature "adult content."
Douglas had been sending out contracts to a number of former ECW stars not currently under WWE contract with plans to reunite many performers from what was considered the "glory years" of the promotion from 1994 to 1997. Those include Sabu, Raven, The Sandman and many others. Tod Gordon has already signed on to be involved with the project, while TNA's Jeremy Borash will be involved with the production side.
As we noted earlier on the site, Douglas had originally planned to run the event on Saturday, June 11. However, the Combat Zone Wrestling promotion had that date booked already and declined to give it up citing that a change would hurt their planned storylines going into June. It should be noted that there was consideration on running the Asbury Park Convention Center in New Jersey on June 11, but the decision was made to stay with the ECW Arena and run a day earlier on June 10. There is no ticket information available for the show as of yet.
