A screw down crown and assembly is very prone to stress and strain of frequent use, which is why we recommend winding the watch using the rotor, and just using the crown to reset the time and date. Is it not a design flaw, per se, but one of the 'weaker' spots on most watches which use screw down crowns, with exception of certain high end watch brands which spend quite a bit of money on their crown-tube assembly. It just isn't possible on a sub $1000 watch to use these extremely expensive parts. The failure rate is very small, but this is little solace to those who have to have it fixed. Please email me at the address in my sig line for the procedure for sending the watch in for service.
Best regards,
Steven
