Winding Self Winding Watch

Hi:

I have a new Limes Pharo Moonphase Chronograph and have been told that it is not good for the movement to wind it by hand after it has stopped from lack of wear. I don't want to purchase a watchwinder if I don't have to. Any thoughts?
