Being new to the world of mechanical watches, I've found it a bit intimidating to post questions on larger, broader messageboards, so I hope I can get some responses from this LIMES forum. Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm interested in finding a good mechanical watch to commemorate my upcoming graduation, but I have a few criteria that make the search somewhat difficult:
- small, thin case (I'm rather small-framed). It's not important to me that the watch be designed for women (in fact, I'd like to do without any sparkly accoutrements), but I would like the watch case to be under 35mm in diameter, and the thinner the case, the better.
- sapphire crystals on front and back. Good scratch-resistance is a must, and I'd like the ability to see the movement through the back. I don't care too much whether the movement is automatic or not, but could somebody explain to this novice the pros and cons of each?
- affordable. I'd really like to keep the total cost under $1000. However, I'd like a high quality watch that will serve as my primary mechanical timepiece. I know, this one is tough...
...which brings me to the LIMES forum. From what I have learned thus far, the LIMES brand is known for its high quality at affordable prices. Does anyone have on opinion on the LIMES Phara? It's the ladies' version of the LIMES Pharo. I like the design, and I like that the ETA 2892 movement is used. What is the list price of this watch? Are there online retailers that carry the Phara line?
Please provide any information you may have about the LIMES Phara, or suggestions for other small watches you may know about.
