Auction for Flood Victims

Dear Fellow-watch lovers -

I was looking at a picture that I inherited - it is of my Great Grandfather - my Grandfather and a prize steer. The picture was taken just prior to the US joining the fight in WWI. The picture is of my Grandfather and his father, and a prize steer that was auctioned off to raise money for the war effort. There is a great deal more to it than simply that, but I wanted to do something myself in a time when something needs to be done.

I own one of the original Limes limited edition watches. This is number 37 of 42.

It is in VERY good shape. I want to offer it up for auction to raise money for the efforts to help the people impacted by Katrina to put their lives back together.

The watch will come with the original box and papers.

I am asking LIMES if they would be willing to get involved as well. I am asking if the US representative will act as "Auction host" for the watch?

If this is agreeable, I will send the watch to Limes US, and the bids will be sent to him by email - I do not want to do this by ebay, and the agreement is that ALL funds will go to a charity i.e. Red Cross, or the agencies helping to reunite families, or rescue pets, etc.

Folks, a few things you should know about me - I am not, by any stretch, a well-to-do person. I saved, and sacrificed to get this watch back in 2002 - it's a long story and I do not want to bore anyone. BUT - this is, as they say, all that I have to give. I bought the watch from the Last Wind Up for approximately $800.00 US. I do not need it - especially knowing that there are others that need more. I will miss it, but I will be very happy to know that it will go to help others.

So - Limes, I am asking you to oversee the auction - are you willing?

Fellow watch lovers - I am asking to set the auction at a starting bid of $250.00 - I am asking for a five day bidding period, and - and here's the corker - I am asking that everyone who bids - whether they win the watch or not, agrees to pay $5.00 to the charity that is selected to receive the proceeds. Can we all get behind this?

LImes - and fellow watch lovers, I look forward to hearing from you - I really want to make this happen!
