ALY BAIN & PHIL CUNNINGHAM

Born in the Shetland Islands, Aly Bain is the best known and most supreme fiddle player in the
Celtic tradition, also known for establishing Boys of the Lough, one of the most famous
traditional folk bands. He is arguably one of the finest players of all time and over the years
he has developed a unique playing technique, becoming recognised for his highly dramatic style
and emotion. World famous accordion player Phil Cunningham was a member of the highly
acclaimed Silly Wizard from 1976 - 1983, developing into a musical force not only in their
native Scotland but also the rest of Europe, Canada and the United States. He has done much
work as a solo performer and composer for television, radio, film and stage. Phil and Aly have
recorded two albums together and this is a great opportunity to hear this unbeatable duo and
their wonderful blend of virtuosic playing and humour.
