Hello Shon - I am glad I saw your message down here at the bottom of the page. I hear you. There are many, many helping professionals who are abuse survivors (including many people-oriented medical professionals), probably a majority - but very few proportionally who have the courage to acknowledge this of themselves and to seek support and healing. It is our first hand experience of trauma that can provide so much of our dedication and empathic attunement to those who are seeking help from us, - yet without undertaking our own healing journey it can be so hard to avoid countertransference pitfalls and also give to ourselves the same nurturance and compassion we offer so easily to others. You are not alone either in your struggles to cope with vicarious trauma. Do let me know if you would like access to the more private (and only active) forum Synchrony Retreat (My email address is linked to my user-name here)
Best of luck from a fellow traveller,
Elysha
