I had to work most of the weekend, but Sunday I actually had the WHOLE DAY OFF!! WOW!!! Last week's schedule was kind of heavy (for me, anyway), but this week they've cut hours again. I'm too tired most of the time to worry about it anymore! At least it's giving me a little more leisure to catch up at the computer...
We had rain, so I don't think there was any 'official' fireworks display in my hometown. My mom and I don't pay much attention to that anymore; we don't attend, and the trees in the yard have gotten too tall for us to watch from out here! I'd rather just see some nice fireworks on TV programs. A sure sign of Old Age!!
Maybe it sounds un-patriotic, but I get just a
little tired of hearing about "plans being ruined" on the holiday if it rains. I say, BIG DEAL. You can still celebrate Independence Day without fireworks! Civilization as we know it won't come to an end if we can't safely send up hundreds or thousands of dollars' worth of explosives. I was almost glad to see it rain. I come home from work tired and stressed...and even though one night early last week we did have a lot of extremely loud noise from nearby homes that lasted about 30 minutes, and yes that WAS irritating, the actual July 4 was pretty quiet because it was so wet.
