Shenanigans:
Just some minor stuff. Near the end of the second period, Colin Doyle objected too vociferously that his helmet kept getting knocked off. He was assessed 2 mins for unsportsmanlike conduct and a 10 min misconduct. Brampton’s assistant coach protested too much that the penalties were too severe. He was assessed a game misconduct.
Notes:
With ten seconds left to play in the first period, Brampton almost got an empty net goal by Dawson. Jonas Derks was injured preventing the goal and was in civvies for the rest of the game.
Near the end of the second period, Brooklin remained on a 5 on 4 powerplay after their 5 on 3 powerplay goal. A textbook 3-way play, Prout on top to McLellan on the left crease to Crosbie on the right crease was foiled by a sliding Watson save. Well read by Watson.
Gee Nash played a stellar game and kept Brooklin in the game particularly in the second period when Brooklin went over 10 mins without a shot after their second goal of the period.
It looked like doom and gloom for Brooklin with 15 seconds left in the third period and Brampton leading by one goal. Nash was on the bench and Brampton had possession. An errant pass by Hasen hit the boards and wound up in an opportunistic Crosbie’s stick and Crosbie made no mistake as he buried the ball behind Watson to send the game into overtime.
Wamper’s Inside Scoop:
Jonas Derks will likely miss Thursday’s game in Brampton. Wes Suddons who saw limited action for Brooklin will be back in full force on Thursday.
