Shenanigans:
A lot of minor stuff behind the backs of the refs. A whack here, a whack there, some helmets on the floor. Near the end of the game the two 77s, David Campbell and Tim O'Brien had a discussion on who should be wearing 77 but nothing came of it. Maybe they made arrangements for the next meeting.
Notes:
Round one of the Battle of Durham goes to the Merchants. The Merchants utilized the smaller floor to their advantage by not giving the Rock players any room to maneuver.
Merchants ran into penalty trouble in the second period, but Scott Wylie came up with some big saves, particularly on Mike Daley when he was in all alone at the mid point of the second period.
Brad Reed's goal was scored from his own crease on a long outlet pass while killing off a penalty..
This was an entertaining game for the fans played at high intensity.
And for those that asked, I took my wife for Thai cuisine on Saturday night with my Friday's 50/50 winnings.
