Shenanigans:
Tempers flared in the third period, but Wiswell and Ravary kept everything under control by penalizing the offending player.
Notes (the way I saw it):
This game was for first place in the East Division and with the Merchants well rested and the Nitros having played the night before, I though the Merchants would try to get off to a fast start and put pressure on the Nitros. It was not to be.
The Nitros defence is big with Welsh, Stahls, and Burke coming out of the back door.
The Merchants got caught looking at the ball rather than their check. It cost them four shorthanded goals. On two of those shorthanded goals in the second period, the Nitros outshot the Merchants 8 to 2.
The Nitros got into penalty trouble in the third period, and gave the Merchants a chance to get back into the game. The Nitros stopped that by scoring two shorthanded goals.
Barrett Church for the Merchants could not buy a goal. Rang a few of the pipes and on others, Cole Murray made big saves.
I would like to thank the Brooklin Merchants executive for honouring me by giving me a lifetime pass. I guess they know I am old or is it that I have to drive the Wamper who also received a lifetime pass (just kidding).
Thank you I appreciated it.
