Notes (The way I saw it):
The game was delayed by rain for 25 minutes at the 3:22 mark of the first period. The skies opened up and the rain came down in sheets. The old arena roof could not keep out all the rain. A couple of buckets and a garbage can were placed under the leaks. The major leak was near the face off circle. The Wamper said that in the old days, they would have just played around the buckets.
After the delay the ball was given to Wayne Richard of the Merchants and it took him exactly 10 seconds to run down the floor and deposit the ball in the Woodsmen's net.
On the eighth Owen Sound goal, Scott Wylie had a Woodsmen player pinned behind the net. Somehow the ball squirted loose into Chris King's stick and he deposited the ball in an open net.
It took the Merchants almost 9 minutes to get their first shot on net in the second period.
The Merchants must win on Tuesday against Norwood to advance into the next round of the playoffs.
The numbers on the Woodmen's jerseys are hard to read for these old eyes.
Good up and down lacrosse, hard hitting, good goal tending, a tight playoff game. |
