He's been our Mayor for eight years and now has decided that he's indispensable and should have another term, notwithstanding that TWO referenda have mandated term-limits.

Are you confusing running for a third term with his request for a three month extension to his term as mayor, delaying the election, because of the events of September 11, 2001?
He didn't get the extension and it was wrong to ask, I think. But, I don't ever remember him trying to work out a 3rd term.....he was busy running for the senate - sorta - anyway.
